Derivatives and Alternatives Processing - We have expert practical knowledge of the operational processing requirements for derivatives and alternatives. We can assist with the operational procedures and systems required to support the effective management of derivatives.

Operational Risk Reviews - We work with managers to review their internal control processes and the systems in place to manage and record operational risk exposures. We recommend practical steps that can be taken to improve a firm’s management of operational risk reducing its exposure to the risk capital adequacy demands of the regulations.

Outsourcing - We cover all targets for outsourcing non-core operations including investment administration, transfer agency, fund accounting and fund administration. Additionally we have practical experience of outsourcing both performance measurement and client reporting.

Our consultancy in this area includes:

• Programme Review - We assess the health and status of a current outsourcing programme to confirm the current state of progress and to identify issues both arising and anticipated.
• Programme Repair - We work with both parties of the outsourcing initiative to recover programmes that are failing.
• Strategic Review - We provide advice on the opportunities afforded and the pitfalls to be avoided when an investment manager considers the strategic benefits of outsourcing. We also provide advice on the sufficiency of an outsourcing provider’s solution in meeting the market’s expectations and conduct due diligence for either party to ensure the proposals make business sense.
• Evaluation - Once the decision has been taken to consider outsourcing in detail we work with managers to confirm the scope of the initiative and help them choose the most appropriate suppliers. We work with managers to ensure that the correct decision for the firm is taken.

Information Quality - We work closely with managers to ensure that high-quality data is managed effectively within the business. Our focus applies equally to business data management and technical data management.

Operational Process Improvement - Using our structured methodology for assessing the performance of business support processes, we can identify the business value that is contributed by each of the operational processes. Our unique approach determines value by comparing the delivery from these operational processes against the business requirements. This allows firms to both identify where processes need to be improved and confirm those that are performing best. We can extend this approach to benchmark a manager’s performance against a peer group.

Hedge Funds Operations - We work with hedge funds and the hedge fund operations of long-only managers, to define an appropriate operational model. We then assist in the selection of administrators and the implementation of the operating model.
